1st Simple HTML Editor
Version 2.1

What is the 1st Simple HTML Editor?

The 1st Simple HTML Editor is an easy to use text-based editor for creating Web pages. It allows you to create Web pages faster than you ever did it before.

Intro

Practically all Websites contain repeating parts of code, which are present in all or many pages. If you need to make changes in any block of repeating code, changes should be applied to each individual page of your Website. Even if you have got just five pages of a Website to change, it is still necessary to open each page in the editor, find the code and then make changes in all of the codes of all pages. If you have done it more then once, you will agree that this is a pretty tedious and dreary occupation.

The Distinctive Feature of the 1st Simple HTML Editor

Using the 1st Simple HTML Editor, you can make changes in a block of repeating code only once. When generating Web pages, this block will be placed automatically to all pages and blocks, containing a link to this block.

How to Use the $ProgramName

The main window of the 1st Simple HTML Editor is divided into two parts. The right part is an editor, where the code of pages and blocks is entered. At the left side, you will see two lists. The upper list is a list of pages. The lower one is a list of blocks.

To start working with the 1st Simple HTML Editor, you can either create a new project or open an existing project. These functions are accessible through the File menu. You can see an example in the Examples Directory.

You can add or delete pages or blocks through a Page menu.

Links to blocks can be placed both on pages and blocks. The link to block is marked in the editor as $$BlockName.

If there is no block with an appropriate name in the project, you will see an error message on your page.

To preview a page in a default browser, select the page from the pages list and press the F9 key. To generate all pages press F7. Pages will be saved in the project directory.

You can set a character set of pages in the Project Preferences dialog in the File menu. You can use ANSI, Unicode and UTF-8 character sets.

Note: Please make copies of your projects (*.hgp).
